Photo Contest: Our Diversity is our Strength

The black silhouette of an eagle soars high above a blanket of fog below, with the hint of a sunrise peeking over a mountain top in the distance.

“If you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras.” So goes the warning heard by med-school students, which cautions them that the simplest and not the “rarest” explanation is most likely when they encounter a symptom. And so we rare CTDers are disbelieved, under-diagnosed, incorrectly diagnosed, and as such referred to as Zebras. Because sometimes those hoofbeats you hear are in fact due to a Dazzle of conditions that comprise EDS, Marfans, LDS, and a number of other genetic Connective Tissue Disorders!

But we are not just Zebras, are we? This contest will highlight our symbolic strengths, feelings, and skills by way of the animals we find in our lives that inspire us and keep us going.

What is your Inspirational Animal?

For some, perhaps it’s the bendy Snake that wends its way through life in a clever, creative, and surprising way.

For others, it’s the Eagle that flies high, soaring above expectations with beauty and majesty.

Maybe for others it’s the Lucky Ladybug, beloved by gardeners and children…

Send us your photos!

The Our Diversity is our Strength Photo Contest will highlight these Inspirational Animals on an ongoing basis here on our group website! Winning photos will be displayed at the head of our home page. There is no deadline; this contest is ongoing.
